Prof. Dr. Sébastien Kraenzlin is a Director at the Swiss National Bank and heads the Banking Operations division. Among others, he is involved in ongoing dialogue in and around the Swiss financial centre and in the area of innovation in payment systems and other Fintech initiatives. Mr. Kraenzlin is also responsible for joint work with the BIS Innovation Hub on the integration of central bank money in a DLT infrastructure. Sébastien Kraenzlin joined the SNB in January 2007 and headed the Money Market organizational unit from 2012 to 2015. In this function, he was involved in many projects, such as the conceptual design and introduction of negative interest rates, the adjustment of the SNB's securities policy due to new regulatory framework conditions (Basel III) and in the area of reference interest rates. Before joining the SNB, he worked in Economic Research at Credit Suisse. Sébastien Kraenzlin holds a Master's degree in Economics from the University of St. Gallen and a PhD from the University of Basel. He is Professor of Monetary Economics and Financial Market Infrastructure and teaches in the area of monetary policy.
