Mike Clark is Founder Director of Ario Advisory, a responsible investment advisory firm. With an investment, pensions, risk and governance background, he was a NED at Brunel (LGPS) for nearly four years and advised the House of Commons EAC for their 2018 Green Finance inquiry. An actuary, he is a Visiting Fellow at the Global Systems Institute, University of Exeter. He co-convened the RWCS (Real World Climate Scenarios) initiative which challenges the context and use of the NGFS (so UK, CBES) climate scenarios. He is a co-author of the USS/Exeter No Time to Lose report (a public good) which provides narrative scenarios for investor decision-making. He is always willing to explain why Modern Portfolio Theory does not work for climate risk (it’s only a theory!), and why recent developments around IAS37 will be of great assistance to capitalism. He regards the earth as currently uninsurable.
