Sonia Luthra is Managing Director at Société Générale in London, serving as the UK Country Data Protection Officer and Head of Legal for Privacy, AI, and Data Governance. A seasoned legal professional with 25 years’ experience, Sonia combines deep expertise in technology, intellectual property, and data protection with a strategic focus on emerging areas like AI governance.
She holds dual degrees in English Law and French Law, a Master’s in International Business Law, and is a qualified Solicitor. Sonia is also a Certified Data Protection Practitioner (PC.dp), IAPP Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E), and Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional (AIGP).
Before joining Société Générale in 2011, Sonia spent a decade in private practice and completed secondments as a technology lawyer with British Airways, RBS, Worldpay, and UGGC Avocats in Paris.
Beyond her day job, Sonia is a Director on the Board of the London Women’s Forum, where she leads the Marketing and Communications Committee, championing senior female leadership in financial services.
