Tim Cassidy is the Chief Technology Officer for Aker Systems, an award-winning UK company specialising in the design, build, and operation of secure, AI-ready data infrastructure in the public cloud. Aker supports mission-critical systems for the UK Government, including Home Office Digital Services and Analytics, and other highly regulated sectors such as financial services — where trust, resilience, and innovation are paramount.
With over 25 years of global experience in data, analytics, and cloud architecture, Tim has built and led enterprise-scale data platforms and transformation programmes across industries including defence, finance, telecommunications, media, and government. Before joining Aker, he served as Chief Data and Analytics Architect at Sky, where he led the modernisation of the company’s enterprise data and analytics architecture. At Deutsche Bank, he headed cognitive analytics pilots and helped establish the R&D function within the CDO Global Data Science Lab.
Tim began his career in the Royal Australian Air Force before moving into data and analytics consulting for secure government and defence clients. He went on to help establish and grow the Australia/New Zealand operations of Sagent Technology, managing multi-million-dollar engagements and collaborating with Silicon Valley R&D teams. His subsequent leadership roles have included positions at Diageo, IBM, and various technology start-ups, where he advised executives on emerging technologies and investment strategies.
A veteran of Silicon Valley, born in Australia, married into a French family, and now based in London, Tim brings a global perspective and a passion for secure data modernisation, AI-driven insight, and emerging technology adoption. He continues to champion innovative approaches to operating sensitive data infrastructure in the public cloud — helping enterprises and governments alike to turn trusted data into intelligent, real-time decisions with speed and certainty.
