Kirsten is the Chief Privacy and Data Ethics Officer for BNY, and the Chief Data Officer for BNY’s International division. Her role is focused on ensuring the compliant, ethical use of data to support BNY’s strategic business goals, enable innovation and safeguard individuals’ privacy rights.
Kirsten also serves as a Non-Executive Director at BNY Mellon Fund Services (Ireland) DAC.
Prior to joining BNY, Kirsten was the Group Head of Data Privacy and Records Management at Lloyds Banking Group. Her career began in consultancy, where she spent 18 years helping large, global clients of EY and KPMG manage their cybersecurity, data, privacy and technology risks, in roles spanning advisory, assurance and solution implementation.
Within industry, Kirsten is the Chair of the Data Committee of the UK’s International Regulatory Strategy Group (IRSG) and serves on the IRSG Executive Board. She also serves on the global Advisory Boards of the Future of Privacy Forum (FPF) and the PICCASO privacy and security special interest group. She informally mentors women in privacy and cybersecurity.
Kirsten holds a B.Com Hons (Information Systems) from the University of Cape Town, as well as industry data privacy and cybersecurity certifications.
