Luke Brereton is a member of the leadership team for State Street Digital (“SSD”). Luke heads the tokenization product, is responsible for the commercialization of the SSD business, and works alongside the State Street corporate strategy team to source and evaluate investment opportunities. He joined State Street in November 2021. Over the past 25 years Luke has built and run businesses for both banking and technology companies; predominately working in Derivatives, Financial Markets, Technology, and now Digital Assets. His experience covers leadership of global businesses; product design & strategy; regulatory, risk, operational and legal oversight; innovation; and commercial agenda. Prior to joining State Street Luke was co-Head of Prime Services at Standard Chartered Bank, where he built, and then ran, a Prime Services business encompassing Interest Rate and FX derivatives and fixed income financing. Luke is married with four children and holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Physics from Bristol University for his research in near-field optics and scanning probe microscopy, He is the trustee of several UK charities, and is a board director of a Fintech company. Outside of work, Luke enjoys sailing, hiking, photography and cooking.
