Peter is Managing Director, Head of Strategy, Policy and Risk at the DFSA. He is responsible for:

• strategic development and planning, including strategy engagement with government;
• development of the DFSA’s policy framework;
• the DFSA’s approach to both supervisory and organisational risk; and
• the organisation’s international relations activity.

At the international level, Peter is a member of the Coordination Group of the Global Financial Innovation Network (GFIN). He is also a member of the Policy Development Committee of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors and of their Supervisory Material Review Task Force. In the UAE, Peter is President of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment’s National Advisory Committee.

Peter has over 30 years of regulatory experience. Prior to joining the DFSA in 2012, he was Head of the Investments Policy Department at the UK Financial Services Authority. Earlier UK roles included policy work, supervision, bank resolution, internal audit and risk management. From 2003 to 2007, Peter was seconded to the Internal Market Directorate-General of the European Commission in Brussels, where he worked on banking issues, supervision of financial groups, and the future design of supervision within the European Union.

Peter holds a Master’s degree in finance, with distinction, from London Business School.
