I qualified in 1998 with City firm Norton Rose. Most of my professional career has been in financial services. As a newly qualified lawyer I was seconded to the Bank of England’s in-house legal division which then became the in-house legal division at the (then named) Financial Services Authority. Over the years I have gained experience in-house in the financial services industry, including with a number of entities that have been in regulatory remediation programmes, and with the regulator of an offshore financial services centre, where I advised on a number of enforcement cases and assisted the supervisory divisions in relation to firms under regulatory scrutiny and assessing whether they might avoid the need for or should be progressed to enforcement.
