Overview
The UK’s transition to a cleaner, more electrified economy is creating one of Europe’s most significant infrastructure investment opportunities. Delivering the Government’s Clean Power 2030 ambitions, and meeting rising demand from data centres, industry, transport and heating, will require network companies to invest £70–80 billion between 2026 and 2030, with a further £89 billion potentially required in the 2030s.
The market is being rebuilt around it, and the Government has recently made some significant announcements. First, Great British Grid — a publicly owned body within Great British Energy, deploying up to £4 billion and co-investing alongside private capital — opens a new phase of public–private partnership. Second, the Government will expand self-build connections; and the CATO, iTO, cap-and-floor and Regulated Asset Base regimes are creating investable structures that did not exist a few years ago.
Capital is available; delivery is the constraint. NESO's 'first ready and needed, first connected' process removed more than 300 GW of speculative capacity in December 2025 and prioritised around 382 GW of projects. Delivery capacity, planning consent and north–south transmission constraints — not queue position — are now the binding limits on capital deployment.
Financing Britain’s Grid: The UK Electrification, Connections & Storage Investment Summit brings together institutional investors, infrastructure funds, lenders, network operators, developers, policymakers, regulators and advisers.
A full day of keynotes and panels covers the demand revolution, connections reform and the modernisation pipeline, self-build connections, the regulatory compact that sets returns, the storage economy, new models of capital from PPPs and concessions to CATO, RAB and blended finance, and execution risk across supply chains, skills and consents.
Attendees will leave with a clear view of the investable pipeline, the routes available and the counterparties needed to deploy capital at scale.
