Eron Bloomgarden has been actively engaged with the formation and management of the carbon markets for the past 20 years and is recognized as a world leader in carbon pricing. He is a frequent speaker, who has advised governments and corporations on many aspects of environmental finance. He played a vital role in creating the first carbon funds (ETFs) listed on the New York Stock Exchange, developed in collaboration with KraneShares, reaching a peak of AUM of $1.6 billion. He also initiated and was instrumental in the development of the methodology of the IHS Global Carbon Index.
He is the founder of Emergent and LEAF Coalition, facilitating commitments of over $ billion for forest protection. Bloomgarden holds an impressive portfolio, having served as the Portfolio Manager of the EKO Green Carbon Fund (30%+ IRR) at Encourage Capital. Previously Bloomgarden held key roles in various organizations, including as the President of Environmental Markets at Equator LLC, and U.S. Country Director at EcoSecurities, the world’s largest carbon credit company listed on the London Stock Exchange and acquired by JP Morgan.
He was also a member of the World Economic Forum's Global Agenda Council and served on the Board of Directors of the Environmental Markets Association. He is a professor of sustainable finance at Columbia University's Earth Institute. Eron holds an M.P.A. from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) and completed the Program for Leadership Development at Harvard Business School.
