Chris Burgess is a Director and the Sustainability Lead for Global Indirect Real Estate reporting to the Global Head of Sustainability and Innovation. He is part of the firm’s Sustainability Team and is based in London. Chris takes a leading role in the implementation of CBRE IM’s Sustainability Vision across the firm’s underlying Indirect Real Estate investments.
Chris develops processes for the management of sustainability risks throughout the investment lifecycle, particularly focusing on the due diligence and governance requirements for new investments as well as data-led engagement with underlying managers to meet defined performance levels. strategies and disclosure of ESG performance through a number of industry frameworks and benchmarks. He has recently led the onboarding of a new physical climate risk tool for the Indirect Real Estate business.
Prior to joining CBRE Investment Management, Chris was a Director for real asset ESG consultancy EVORA Global.
Chris has worked within sustainability since 2007, initially focusing on development practices across major infrastructure and real estate construction projects for engineering consultancy Arup.
Chris holds a BSc in Geography and MSc in Clean Technology from the school of Chemical Engineering at Newcastle University.
