Murray has spent the past 16 years working on environmental technology projects: from camera-trapping for biodiversity in the jungles of Sumatra, measuring over thousands of trees in Gabon, to using satellites to track deforestation. He co-founded Space Intelligence in 2018, and has since grown it to a team of 25 working between Edinburgh and London, supporting individual forest conservation projects and national-level mapping from Peru, across Africa, and into Philippines and Indonesia. He holds an Interdisciplinary Ph.D. from the London School of Economics and the Institute of Zoology, ZSL, on the assessment of performance in forest conservation projects; two post-docs and two fellowships at the University of Edinburgh.
