Sagarika leads on finance for the High-level Climate Action Champions.

The Champions run the UN-backed Race to Zero campaign and co-convene the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero with Mark Carney, Mary Schapiro and Mike Bloomberg. Sagarika serves on the secretariat of the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero, having helped create it in 2021.

About the Champions: The two High-level Climate Action Champions are Nigel Topping (UK) and Dr Mahmoud Mohieldin (Egypt), whom Sagarika works for. At COP21 in Paris, governments created the role of the Champions to connect the work of governments (parties to the Paris Agreement) with that of cities, regions, businesses and investors. The first Champion was Ms Laurence Tubiana from France.

Prior to the Champions, Sagarika was the PRI’s Director of Climate Change and Environment. At PRI, Sagarika co-headed the UN-convened Net Zero Asset Owner Alliance secretariat and led the PRI’s work with global investors on TCFD, The Inevitable Policy Response and early work in China.

Before PRI, Sagarika worked for over ten years at F&C Asset Management, served as an investment committee member for the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and trustee at Earthwatch, and worked in a commercial role sourcing independently certified timber for B&Q, part of Kingfisher plc.

Sagarika has an MSc in Development Studies from University of London and a BA in Social and Political Sciences from the University of Cambridge. Sagarika is bilingual in English and Bengali.
