In a pioneering role, Uthman served as the former Global Responsible AI Officer at BP, where he made history as the energy industry's first dedicated leader in this space. He successfully spearheaded the development and enterprise-wide deployment of robust responsible AI frameworks, setting a crucial precedent for the sector. His strategic counsel shapes international policy and standards. Uthman advises the World Economic Forum’s AI Governance Alliance, actively collaborates with newly formed AI safety institutes to assess frontier risks, and serves as a national expert on AI and robot ethics at the British Standards Institute (BSI).
