Janine has spent over 25 years leading award-winning, multidisciplinary teams of data lawyers, compliance, governance and assurance professionals
Most recently, she was General Counsel: Data, AI & Security at BT Group, covering data, AI and security law across 180 jurisdictions, and also served as the Group's Data Privacy & Ethics Officer. Prior to joining BT, Janine spent almost 17 years as SVP of Legal & Business Affairs at Warner Bros. and began her career in private practice with Pinsent Masons (UK) and Bowmans (South Africa).
Janine is a dual-qualified English and South African lawyer, an AIGP-certified AI governance professional, and a recognised advocate for responsible technology. She is Vice Chair of the children's charity Chance for Childhood, co-founder of Women in Law & Data (WiLD), and an Advisory Board member of PICCASO.
