Emily is Director of AI Assurance at Frontier Economics, where she is leading work on the economics, adoption, and governance of Artificial Intelligence. Her team’s work combines rigorous economics with deep practical experience of AI adoption, governance and policy. Emily previously worked for the UK Government’s Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, where she has held senior roles leading work on AI assurance, AI adoption and skills and, most recently, AI for local growth. She has played a leading role in developing the UK’s approach to the responsible adoption and assurance of AI, working across government, industry and the wider AI ecosystem. Emily previously represented the UK at the OECD’s Working Party on AI Governance, and continues to contribute to the OECD.AI network of experts, including their Expert Groups on AI Risk & Accountability and Compute & Climate. She sits on several advisory boards, including for Bridging Responsible AI Divides (BRAID), a major collaboration between Innovate UK, the Ada Lovelace Institute and the BBC. Emily has worked in AI policy for several years, and prior to joining government worked on international AI governance policy. Outside of her roles she has published work on the responsible publication of AI research, and how to manage its risks.
