Clive Kelman is Group Lead for Advanced Data and AI Exploitation at BAE Systems, where he supports the strategic adoption, governance and scaling of artificial intelligence across the global organisation.

Previously, Clive served as the first Principal AI Technologist working across the UK Government. He helped departments and public bodies adopt AI responsibly and effectively, co-authored the Government’s Generative AI Framework and AI Playbook, and chaired the Government AI Technical Advisory Panel, bringing together experts from industry, academia and the public sector.

His career spans more than 25 years of AI, technology, data and transformation leadership across government, defence, energy, healthcare and critical national infrastructure. He has held senior roles with organisations including the Cabinet Office, Ofgem, Babcock, Elexon, National Grid, Jacobs and the NHS, and has led technology programmes supporting some of the UK’s largest and most complex organisations.

Clive’s current focus is helping leaders move beyond isolated AI experimentation towards trusted, governed and scalable adoption—including the opportunities and organisational challenges created by agentic AI.
