Philip Stafford is the digital finance news editor at the Financial Times, where he oversees the paper's coverage of the nascent cryptocurrency industry. He was previously the FT's correspondent for exchanges, trading and markets regulation for nine years. During that time, he won a Sabew award for his coverage of "flash crash" trader Navinder Sarao, led the FT's coverage of the impact of Brexit on financial markets and also ran FT Trading Room, the FT's microsite devoted to market structure. His 20-year career at the FT has also seen Philip hold roles covering stock markets and technology. He has also worked for the FT in Tokyo. He started at Bloomberg as a commodities reporter in 1999 and was part of the team that developed financial website FTMarketwatch during the technology boom in 2000. Prior to starting a career in journalism, he was a teacher in Japan.
