Ed frequently advises clients on financial and trade sanctions in relation to high-stakes and high-value transactions, including with respect to due diligence, negotiating contracts, sanctions compliance, and compliance uplifts.

Ed also has significant experience of conducting internal investigations and responding to government and regulatory investigations relating to a broad range of sanctions and other financial crime issues. This has involved representing a US-based oil services company in relation to allegations by HMRC of alleged breaches of international export sanctions, and a cross-border internal investigation concerning allegations of fraud and sanctions violations in relation to a DOJ investigation of a Chinese telecoms group.

Ed has authored a number of thought pieces on sanctions issues and has spoken at conferences on UK sanctions. He is a co-author of the ICLG UK sanctions guide.
