James Grant is currently the Global Head of Sanctions and Web3 AML at Banking Circle, overseeing the firm’s sanctions compliance and digital assets financial crime programmes. James joined in 2025 and brings more than 20 years’ experience within financial crime risk management, regulatory compliance and transformation. Banking Circle are a credit institution, regulated by the CSSF, UK FCA and BaFin, focused on enhancing the correspondent banking payment infrastructure both in fiat and, most recently, through the launch of the first European bank-issued MICA regulated Stablecoin (Eurite) in 2024. Prior to joining Banking Circle, James spent the majority of his career in consulting, including leading the financial crime and digital assets practices at Promontory UK and 12 years within KPMG Forensic where he held a number of senior leadership roles across sanctions, fraud and investigations. James also has experience working within the financial crime team at the FCA and regularly speaks at industry events and roundtables.
