Melanie Martin is the Head of Legal at Kita, the carbon insurance specialist and coverholder at Lloyd’s of London. Kita’s mission is to support the scaling of high-quality carbon projects by offering a portfolio of insurance solutions that mitigate carbon-related risks. By reducing the risk in carbon credit transactions, Kita’s insurance helps unlock greater flows of upfront capital and accelerate the pace of positive climate impact. In her role, Melanie manages the legal and regulatory aspects of Kita’s innovative insurance products.
Prior to joining Kita, Melanie worked as an international arbitration associate at a large global law firm. Melanie is passionate about environmental law and policy and holds an LL.M. in this field from UCL. Melanie is also a founding member of Women in Carbon, a networking initiative aimed at empowering and amplifying the voices of women working across the carbon markets.
