Alex is Head of Sarasin Bread Street, the private markets business of Sarasin & Partners LLP, where he is also a Partner. Prior to this he co-founded Bread Street Capital Partners and held senior investing and leadership roles at Janus Henderson, Aberdeen Standard Investments and Deutsche Asset Management. He started his career with Franklin Templeton in 1993.
Alex has a wealth of private markets experience - he became Head of Private Equity at Aberdeen, subsequently becoming their Global Head of Investment Oversight for c£60bn of private markets assets. Over a +30 year investment management career Alex has managed two LSE-listed investment companies (Aberdeen Private Equity Fund Ltd; Henderson Alternative Strategies Trust plc), additionally running portfolios for, corporates, local authorities, government agencies and NYSE-listed funds. He currently co-manages Bread Street MVPE Fund, an innovative private equity strategy launched by Sarasin Bread Street in 2024.
Alex serves as an Alderman of the City of London and is a governor and trustee of Christ’s Hospital, a leading UK independent school. He holds an MA in Economics and Accountancy from Aberdeen University, and completed the inaugural Oxford Artificial Intelligence Programme at Säid Business School.
