                                                    Michelle Beck serves as Director, Markets at the Financial Conduct Authority, responsible for the Wholesale Buyside group.  Since starting her career in financial services in 1986, her focus has been on derivative products and risk management. Her previous roles include serving as a risk management fellow in the Analytics Office of the SEC’s Division of Investment Management; chief risk officer for buyside firms including TIAA Financial Solutions, Nuveen and Russell Investments; and leading roles in market and operational risk, as well as derivative product trading roles, for banks in the US and Europe including Bankers Trust and Deutsche Bank.  She previously lived in London from 1989-1995 while leading the market risk function for Europe at Bankers Trust.
Michelle earned an M.A. in Government from Harvard University, and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Washington in Seattle. She has served on the board of trustees of the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP), the CFA Society of Chicago, and served as president of GARP’s Buy Side Risk Managers Forum.
