Luke Holden is the Deputy Head of Illicit Finance (Cryptoassets) at the UK’s National Economic Crime Centre, where he leads the UK’s response to the criminal use of cryptoassets. Working with law enforcement, government and industry partners, he develops system strategies and joint initiatives to both better understand the threat and improve law enforcement’s ability to prevent and detect the illicit use of cryptoassets.
Luke co-founded and co-chairs the UK’s Public-Private Cryptoasset Forum, bringing together domestic and international partners to improve data-sharing, refine operational capabilities and identify emerging financial crime typologies.
Prior to his current role, Luke spent over a decade in the National Crime Agency in senior intelligence and policy leadership positions, specialising in the development of covert intelligence collection methodologies.
He holds an MSc from the University of London and a BA from the University of Oxford.
