As Director of Sustainability and Policy within OEUK Mike Tholen role is to support the UK’s offshore energy sector contribution to the UK economy in its aim to deliver the Energy Transition securely and consistently with the UK’s long term climate targets to achieve a “net-zero” future by 2050. He is responsible for delivery of the transformative North Sea Transition Deal which will accelerate the pace of decarbonisation across the UK economy, attracting billions of investment in CCS and hydrogen and create the energy supply chain of the future, building on its oil and gas heritage. His team is responsible for managing business, energy and finance policy with the UK government. He formerly worked for Shell for 20 years, in the UK and internationally, in a variety of engineering and commercial roles. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and a regular commentator on the energy scene.
