Mike is an experienced and leading practitioner in the international project finance and infrastructure market with 30+ years at Citibank and Deutsche Bank AG. Between 1998-2015 he was European Head of DB’s Infrastructure, Energy, and Transportation Capital Markets Group. He led many of the U.K.’s largest infrastructure and energy deals, including 2007 Eurotunnel refinancing, London Underground PPP transaction, and the AES Drax bond refinancing and subsequent restructuring. He arranged the first solar bond in Spain, Solaris, along with the financing of other renewable transactions. He was a member of the New Nuclear Working Group, (chaired by Dr Tim Stone) and also the Expert Financing Working Group for Small Nuclear Reactors which reported to Parliament in 2018. From 2018-2021, the board and the PRA asked him to become CEO of Raphaels Bank, to wind down the bank and return its banking licence. This was achieved 2 years ahead of plan. He continues to give advice in infrastructure, energy, financial services, and restructuring to clients in the UK and internationally.
