Huw Williams joined government in 2018 and heads up Investor Relations at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and previously carried out the same role at BEIS. He covers the Department’s engagements with the financial sector, looking at new nuclear, as well as CCUS, legacy oil & gas and hydrogen.
These interactions include with key infrastructure investors, pension funds, insurers and Sovereign Wealth Funds, but also with advisory investment banks and equity research analysts.
For the past two years he has been very focused on finance for new nuclear, covering large scale, such as Sizewell C, as well as SMRs and AMRs. He was part of the UK delegations to the October 2022 IAEA Ministerial in DC and CERAWeek in March 2023.
Prior to HMG, Huw worked in equities in Investment Banking, focused on the energy sector, based in HK, Singapore and London. He has a degree in Mineral Resources Engineering from Imperial College.
