Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment Senior Adviser George Littlejohn graduated in economics from the University of Edinburgh before qualifying as a chartered accountant with PwC and working as a financial journalist for The Economist. Over the past two decades he has advised financial centres across Europe, the Middle East and Asia, with a particular focus on professional standards, governance and market development.
He has led major education programmes for professionals across Eurasia, supported by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office; currently that includes a three-year scheme on financial skills for Ukraine. George was a founder of the Sustainable Finance Education Charter under the Green Finance Institute. His interests include AI governance, sustainable finance and financial crime. In 2023 he co-created the CISI’s Certificate in Ethical AI with Michael Mainelli, Lord Mayor 2023-2024.
He is also leading on a “Growth Unleashed Learning Alliance” with a group including CFA UK and the Chartered Banker Institute, City of London Corporation, and livery companies led by the Worshipful Company of International Bankers (of which George is a Liveryman). This alliance, launched at Mansion House in July 2025, supports past Lord Mayor (2024-2025) Alastair King’s ongoing growth initiative, and the Mansion House Accord.
