About City & Financial Global

If you are not familiar with us, City & Financial Global is an independent, research-based conference organiser with a particular specialism in financial services regulation, corporate finance and financial crime. Government ministers, senior regulators and company CEOs regularly speak on our platforms.

We are perhaps best known for our flagship event, City Week, which we organise in partnership with the UK Government and leading institutions across the City of London. City Week is a high-level forum for the discussion of the opportunities and challenges in international financial services. Financial markets regulation and reform feature highly on the agenda every year.

The 14th annual edition was held last month. It is the premier event of its kind in the world and attracts 1,000 c-suite delegates from 50 countries across the globe. Details of CW2024 can be found at www.cityweekuk.com. Please visit our main website, www.cityandfinancial.com, for more information about our other events.

About the summit

The purpose of the Summit is to provide a forum for companies and capital markets practitioners to address the Labour government’s avowed commitment to improve the competitiveness of London as a financial centre. The FCA have introduced a raft of reforms intended to make London more attractive as a listing venue of choice. However, there are a number of other factors affecting future growth and investment in the UK markets. Chief amongst these is the drive to encourage greater investment in the UK markets by pension funds both to boost growth and to provide greater access to capital to companies. The Summit will also address the burgeoning private markets, which may account for some companies’ reluctance to seek a listing, or indeed decide to de-list. Other issues to be addressed include the cultural shift in the relationship between shareholders and companies; the FCA’s latest rules on how investment research is paid for; reforming the rules on short selling; encouraging greater retail participation in the capital markets; and what the future holds for London as a financial centre.
