Summary
City & Financial Global is delighted to announce its third annual Summit on the Reform of the UK Public and Private Capital Markets, taking place on 13 October 2025 in Central London.
The purpose of the Summit is to provide a forum for companies and capital markets practitioners to learn how the ongoing reform of the UK’s public and private capital markets will affect them. It will also provide a detailed assessment of whether current and future reforms will create an environment in which companies can flourish, innovate and scale-up.
Despite amendments having been introduced to the listing rules to ease the burden of compliance, there is a perception that the UK is steadily losing ground to U.S. exchanges. The next stage of reform is therefore focused on boosting liquidity and valuations in the UK public markets, while ensuring that we maximise the potential of the UK’s very healthy private markets. The Summit will look at how public and private pools of capital can collectively promote economic growth.
Another key theme of the Summit is the role of pension funds and how they can contribute capital to promote growth in UK investments. The Mansion House Accord and the Pension Investment Review have the potential to unlock up to £50bn for UK business and infrastructure. Other topics to be addressed include how PISCES will work in terms of bridging the gap between public and private; the cultural shift in the relationship between shareholders and companies; encouraging greater retail participation in the capital markets; and the impact of UK attitudes to executive remuneration on attracting and retaining talent in the City
