Summary
The drive to establish the UK as a leading centre for AI is a critical part of the government’s growth strategy.
On the 9th of June the UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, announced £1bn of extra funding in AI to scale up the nation’s compute power *by a factor of 20”, a further £187 million to improve AI skills among school-aged children, and a partnership with the tech sector to upskill 7.5 million workers by 2030. In April, the government invited local authorities to submit bids to become AI Growth Zones. These actions are part of the implementation of the UK Government’s AI Opportunities Action Plan, published in January and led by Matt Clifford, the purpose of which is to boost the UK's AI sector and make it a global leader. The UK Government is committed to making the UK the location of choice for AI companies and a centre in excellence in terms of how businesses harness the benefits of AI to compete in the new economy. It is vital for both the public and private sector to fully understand how to seize the opportunities that the government’s policies will offer them.
Against this background and following a great success of our AI Regulation Summit earlier this year, City and Financial Global is pleased to give you advanced notice of The UK National AI Policy Summit, which will take place on the 23rd of September in Central London. This timely and "one of a kind" event will bring together top experts from the field to analyse the main opportunities created by the government’s AI policies, as well as to review the latest developments in regulation, safety and assurance, and best practice risk management approaches for both providers and users of AI systems.
